What is Zepbound?
Zepbound (tirzepatide) is an FDA-approved, once-weekly injectable medication used for weight loss and long-term weight management. It is administered via subcutaneous self-injection and works by reducing hunger, controlling cravings, and improving blood sugar regulation. Zepbound is not only effective for weight reduction but also supports metabolic health by lowering A1C levels.
How It Works
Zepbound belongs to a class of medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists. These medications mimic the natural incretin hormones your body releases after eating. By doing so, Zepbound slows gastric emptying (how quickly food leaves the stomach), suppresses appetite, promotes a longer-lasting feeling of fullness, allows you to avoid grazing, and supports better blood sugar control. When paired with healthy lifestyle changes like balanced nutrition, drinking more water, and regular physical activity, Zepbound can significantly enhance weight loss efforts and weight management.

How is the medication administered?
Zepbound is a self-administered weekly injection. Your tolerance to the medication and effectiveness is assessed by the Renew team with regular check-in surveys. Your individual dose is adjusted depending on weight loss progress, tolerance, and maintenance planning. The medication can be taken for as long as it is beneficial to the patient. After signing up, you will receive a step-by-step guide on how to prepare a syringe and complete an injection. We are here for you every step of the way.
Protocol
Our protocol begins with a starting dose of 2.5 mg, with gradual increases every four weeks, as tolerated. The dose escalation schedule is as follows:
- Weeks 1–4: 2.5 mg
- Weeks 5–8: 5 mg
- Weeks 9–12: 7.5 mg
- Weeks 13–16: 10 mg
- Weeks 17–20: 12.5 mg
- Weeks 21+: 15 mg (maximum dose)
Once you reach your weight loss goal, you can transition to a maintenance dose, which typically involves lowering the dose to a level that supports weight stabilization rather than continued loss. You can discontinue the medication if you do not want to do maintenance dosing.
Do you need to watch your diet and exercise while taking medication?
This medication is meant to aid traditional weight-loss efforts like a healthy protein centric diet and exercise. A healthy diet and exercise are preferred over medications; however, when serious attempts have been made to lose weight without success, medications can be highly beneficial for long-term health.
For best results
- Follow the recommended dosing protocol prescribed to you by Renew and avoid self-diagnosing.
- Eat healthy, protein rich, unprocessed food and exercise. Developing healthy habits will sustain your weight loss in the future and reduce dependance on medications.
- Consider maintenance dosing when you reach your weight loss goal to avoid weight regain. When you are at or near your weight loss goal, continue to interact with Renew to determine a maintenance dose that’s right for you.
