Stretch Mark Removal & Tummy Skin Tightening

For a long time, stretch marks and loose and saggy tummy skin have been very difficult to treat, but the good news is there’s finally a solution with our Opus Plasma treatment.

While a number of lotions and creams claim to remove stretch marks and tighten saggy tummy skin, the evidence supporting them is weak. Our Opus Plasma treatment shrinks and tightens skin and creates collagen in the stretch mark, resulting in a reduction of discoloration and firmer, more youthful-looking skin.

What are stretch marks?

Stretch marks (striae) occur in the dermis. Their severity is affected by several factors, including genetics and cortisone levels. Cortisone (a hormone produced by the adrenal glands) prevents fibroblasts from creating the collagen and elastin fibers we need to keep skin that is rapidly growing tight. During short periods of intensive stretching (like childbirth) this can result in tearing to the dermal tissue, causing collagen fibers to rupture, which, in turn, produces scarring in the form of stretch marks.

Extreme skin growth due to weight gain or shrinkage through sudden weight loss can also cause stretch marks. They are common in teenage years due to sudden growth spurts and pregnancy. Up to 90% of women experience them.

Stretch marks usually begin as reddish or purple lesions, typically where fat is stored (such as the abdomen, breasts, upper arms, underarms, dorsal area, thighs, hips, and buttocks). They then tend to weaken and lose pigmentation, and the area is often left soft to the touch and a cosmetic nuisance to the individual.

Does Opus Plasma work on stretch marks?

Opus Plasma is a safe and effective treatment for reducing the appearance of stretch marks on the skin, as it’s able to both tighten the skin and rewire the skin’s “memory” of scarring and discoloration. The Opus Plasma treatment works well at improving the appearance of both stretch marks and loose skin, and it tightens and shrinks the skin, resulting in a smoother and younger looking skin.

Healing time

The skin on our face heals relatively quickly compared to other parts of the body. Healthy skin will also heal much quicker than skin that has some form of previous trauma that results in scar tissue forming. This means that when using Opus Plasma for stretch marks and scars, we need to be patient and understand that final results may take longer compared to treatments on the face or neck.

The treated area will be red and blotchy following treatment.

The further the treatment area is from the heart, the longer it will take to heal. This lengthened healing process is also seen with other skin injuries and even tattoo removal, where you will need more treatments to remove a foot tattoo than an upper body tattoo.

When can a stretch mark or scar be treated with Opus Plasma?

The ideal scar or stretch marks for treatment are faded to a white color. If there is any redness or purple coloration to the skin, they are too new for treatment, and you must give them more time to heal naturally. Treating skin that is still healing may cause too much trauma to the new skin, and this could result in causing more scarring rather than improving the appearance of the skin.

Number of treatments needed

The recommended protocol is 3 treatments spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart. While most scars and stretch marks respond very well to a treatment, some areas of scar tissue have reduced collagen or in the case of hypertrophic scarring, excess collagen giving the appearance of either a depression or a lump on the skin.
