How does this treatment work?

The Plasma Pen fibroblast therapy we perform at our center is the most advanced, nonsurgical, noninvasive, skin lifting, tightening, and rejuvenation treatment used to combat wrinkles and fine lines, tighten sagging skin, improve skin texture and tone, and reverse collagen loss. Results are permanent (but our skin continues to age) and impressive. Plasma fibroblast therapy is low-risk and uses your body’s natural healing process to create beautiful results.

How does Plasma Pen work?

Plasma energy is created with the Plasma Pen device, and the plasma energy transfers rapidly to the skin’s epidermal layer. Simultaneously, it heats and disrupts the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. This micro-trauma affects the superficial epidermis, as well as a deeper zone within the dermis – particularly the fibroblasts. Fibroblasts are the most common cells of connective tissue in the body that produce collagen. A plasma pen treatment stimulates the fibroblasts in the skin to significantly tighten, repair, and eliminate wrinkles.

What to expect during a treatment

We numb your skin for one hour before starting. On a scale of 1-10, you may feel a 1 or a 2. Most clients experience no discomfort and sometimes even fall asleep while we work on them. We use relaxing music for you to listen to during the procedure. A full facelift takes about 3-4 hours from start to finish. If a full facelift is not needed, we can do a half upper or lower lift or just focus on a particular area such as upper/lower eyes.

What to expect directly after and the first week after your treatment

Your face will feel hot, like you have a sunburn, following the treatment. The heat from the procedure will be escaping your skin over the next 24 hours. Following the procedure, you should take it easy and relax, and we recommend using Tylenol for any discomfort. Starting that evening or the following day, your eyes may swell, which is normal and expected. Swelling usually peaks around day 3 and subsides after that. Your treated skin will flake and peel over the course of 5-7 days following your treatment. During this time, you will use the aftercare products we provide you. Once you are done peeling, you may resume your normal skincare products and wearing makeup.

Recovery time

The average recovery time is 5-7 days. You may continue about your daily activities; however, you will be peeling and flaking for up to 7 days following the treatment. There is no discomfort during this time, only tight and dry skin that may itch. The post-treatment aftercare serum and products provided to you help with itching.

What to expect weeks 2-12 after your treatment

A Plasma Pen treatment is the gift that keeps giving; on top of the immediate tightening affects that happens, it takes 12 weeks for the full effects of your original treatment to be seen. During this time, Type 3 Collagen, which is deposited during the healing process, is replaced over several weeks by tougher Type 1 Collagen. Collagen is what keeps our skin from sagging, giving us that plump, youthful look. The innermost layer of your skin consists of proteins, including collagen and elastin. Collagen, which makes up 80% of your skin’s structure, provides firmness and strength. Elastin provides elasticity and helps your skin stay tight.
