An upper/lower eye lift with our Opus Plasma or Plasma Pen treatments significantly tightens skin on the eyelid and lower eye area, resurfaces the skin, eliminates fine lines and wrinkles, and creates collagen. One treatment is all that’s needed, and downtime is minimal. There is no surgery, scarring, stitches, or thinning of the skin. This treatment is the only non-surgical eye treatment there is to correct hooded eyelids, bags under the eyes, puffy eyes, and fine lines and wrinkles.
How this treatment works
Plasma energy is created with our Plasma Pan device, or radiofrequency and plasma energies with our Opus Plasma device, and that thermal energy transfers rapidly to the skin’s epidermal layer. Simultaneously, it heats and disrupts the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. This micro-trauma affects the superficial epidermis, as well as a deeper zone within the dermis – particularly the fibroblasts. Fibroblasts are the most common cells of connective tissue in the body that produce collagen. A Plasma Pen treatment stimulates the fibroblasts in the skin to significantly tighten, repair, and eliminate wrinkles.
What Is a treatment like?
When you arrive for your treatment at our Eagan, MN center, our team will do everything possible to help you feel at ease and well-informed. Before starting the procedure, we apply numbing cream to the treatment area, which reduces any discomfort you may have during the procedure. Everyone’s pain level is different, and some areas of the body may feel a little more sensitive than others, but most people say it’s very tolerable. Some clients have even fallen asleep. During the treatment, you will lie back, close your eyes, and listen to your favorite music as we complete the procedure.
What is the recovery time like?
After the procedure, there will be tiny carbon crusts on your skin, which are like natural bandaids to protect the wound as it’s healing. Directly after the procedure, swelling and scabbing develop, and you apply the aftercare serum provided to you by your technician and use that as directed. The carbon crusts fall off in 5 to 7 days. Immediately after your procedure, we will thoroughly explain your aftercare instructions and set up your follow-up appointment to review your results and take after photos. After this appointment, you will be provided with your before and after photos electronically so you can see your results and show them off to your friends and family.
What is the healing process like?
Days 1-7 post treatment — In the first 1-7 days, tiny carbon crusts appear on the skin as a sign of the new epithelial tissue. These carbon crusts serve as a natural and protective biological dressing that will flake off naturally as the newly formed and rejuvenated skin appears underneath. The treatment creates Type 3 collagen, which works to minimize the effect and appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and skin aging.
Weeks 1-12 post treatment — The comprehensive healing response is characterized by the strengthening, plumping, inflation, and lifting of the skin. We start to see the reversal of premature degeneration and a stimulation of white blood cells, filling in any gaps created through micro-trauma.
Week 12 and beyond — 12 weeks post treatment, the skin starts to form new blood vessels and release growth factors. These growth factors include cytokines, which are small proteins that help our cell aging and the repair and growth of new cells.
How many treatments are needed?
Most people get the results they are looking for with just one treatment; however, a second treatment may be needed if your eyes are significantly hooded and you have deep wrinkles. For those that are just starting to develop wrinkles around the eyes, only one treatment is needed, and this is an excellent preventative measure to prevent wrinkles from developing at all since the treatment produces collagen.
How long do results last?
Results are considered permanent; however, our skin continues to age, so you can expect the results to last anywhere from three or more years. Doing a Plasma Pen treatment on your eyes in is an excellent preventative treatment, because Plasma Pen creates collagen and elastin. Therefore, maintaining or building up your collagen level before wrinkles set in is an excellent way to fight the aging process.
