How to Get Event Ready: My Timeline for Weddings and Big Days
A wedding or other important event is the number one reason people walk through my door, and what they tell me, almost word for word, is: “I don’t want to look so old.”
What they are really saying is, “I want to look like myself, just a little more rested, refreshed, and confident.” That is exactly what this timeline is designed to help you achieve.
After years of prepping brides, grooms, and mothers of the bride at Renew MedSpa, I can tell you the process always starts the same way. Not with a treatment, but with a conversation. “Not so old” means something different to everyone. For one person it is the sun spots. For another it is tired eyes, or the neck, or simply wanting to glow in the photos. So we sit down, often with a VISIA skin analysis, define what it means to you, and then build the plan backward from your date.
That backward planning is the whole secret. Some treatments transform skin but need months to work. Others are made for the final days. Put them in the wrong order and you either run out of runway or, worse, experiment on your face the week of the event. Before we get into the timeline, I want to make one thing very clear.
Please do not look at this timeline and think you need everything listed here. Very few people do. Every person has different goals, skin, budget, and timing. Some people may only need Botox and a facial. Others may want to start months in advance with laser resurfacing or collagen-building treatments. The goal is not to do everything. It is to choose the right treatments for you.
Every timeline in this article reflects my ideal recommendations. If your event is sooner, do not panic. We can still create a plan that makes sense for your timeline.
My job is not to convince you to have treatments. It is to understand your goals, educate you on your options, and recommend the treatments that will help you achieve the best outcome safely.
If I had to choose the treatments I recommend most often before an important event, they would probably be medical-grade skincare, Botox when appropriate, one thoughtfully selected Helix treatment, and a Love Your Skin facial before the event. Everything else depends on your goals.
Once we know what matters most to you, I follow two simple rules.
Never debut a treatment for an event. Every treatment on this timeline should be one your skin has already met. If it is new to you, we do a trial run with enough time to spare.
Nothing new in the final two weeks. No new treatments, no new skincare actives, no experiments. The final stretch is for proven things only.
And one reassurance before we count down: this is a guide, not a to-do list. Nobody does everything on it, and you are not supposed to. Most of my clients choose two or three things that fit their goals and their timeline, and simple plans deliver beautiful results. Use it to see what is possible and when, and let the consultation narrow it down to yours.
The foundation: treatments that need a real runway
Sculptra
If any treatment owns the far end of this timeline, it is Sculptra. It works by stimulating your own collagen, and collagen is built over months, not weeks. Results develop gradually and keep improving long after treatment. I recommend starting at least 6 months out; 9 months is even better. Engaged in the fall with a summer wedding? This is the first conversation to have.
Weight loss with Zepbound
If weight is part of your goal, the math sets your start date. On our medically supervised Zepbound program, average weight loss is 1 to 3 pounds per week, and individual results vary. Work it backward: a modest goal can fit a few months, a bigger goal genuinely needs 6 to 12. This is the one item on the timeline that cannot be compressed, so if it is on your mind, it goes first.
Helix CO2 laser resurfacing
The Helix CO2 and 1570 fractional laser is our deepest skin transformation: sun damage, texture, lines, and tightening. I generally recommend scheduling your Helix treatment about 6 months before your event. That gives your skin time to heal and allows collagen remodeling to continue for months after treatment. Most people are amazed by what a single treatment can accomplish, and six months lets you enjoy the full result by your event.
“The Helix CO2 & 1570 Fractional Laser in just 4 weeks I’ve seen great results with an obvious improvement with my fine lines, wrinkles, pigment and tightened skin… Looking forward to continued improvement with increased collagen production.”

CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting permanently eliminates treated fat cells, but the body clears them gradually, with results developing over the following months. Plan it 6 months out. And if weight loss is also part of your plan, sequence it: lose the weight first, then contour what remains.
Laser hair removal, for the honeymoon
I will be honest: laser hair removal will not change your wedding photos. Your honeymoon is another story. Full clearance for a Brazilian takes 8 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart, which means about 8 months, so if smooth matters to you, this starts before the invitations go out.
The refinement: correction and dialing in
Botox, if you are new to it
Here is something I see all the time: someone tried Botox years ago, did not love the result, and assumed Botox simply was not for them. Then they spent years creating lines that were entirely preventable. I work with a lot of first-timers, and once they understand what a neuromodulator actually does: it treats the muscle layer, which nothing else in aesthetics can do, and that it is FDA approved with decades of safety behind it, the fear mostly disappears.
If you are new to Botox, I recommend starting about 6 to 7 months before your event. Not because the product itself needs that much time, but because it gives us the opportunity to see how your facial muscles respond, review your full result, and make thoughtful adjustments at a future visit about 3 to 4 weeks before your event. By your event, your look is familiar and proven, not an experiment. My dosing philosophy is always the same: enough for a beautiful, natural result, never more. My goal has never been to make someone look “done.” I want people to notice how refreshed you look, not what you had done.
“Julie was great about explaining the process and what to expect. As someone who has never gotten injectable treatments prior to this, I greatly appreciated her taking the time to explain how it all works. The Jeuveau treatment was also long lasting and the results set in quickly.”

Helix CO2 fractional laser skin resurfacing
One thing that can be confusing is that Helix is not a single treatment. It is one platform that allows me to perform several different resurfacing treatments depending on your goals, skin, and tolerance for downtime. Deka Fusion, CoolPeel Fusion, and CoolPeel PDGF are all performed with the Helix device, but they vary in intensity, recovery, and what they are designed to accomplish. A consultation is needed to determine the right one for you.
CoolPeel PDGF, especially for younger skin
Not everyone needs the most aggressive Helix treatment, and I will tell you if you do not. For younger skin that wants refinement or a refresh rather than significant correction, CoolPeel PDGF is a lighter resurfacing option with less downtime. If you are familiar with microneedling, I often describe CoolPeel PDGF as the next step up. It stimulates collagen like microneedling, but I generally see more noticeable improvements in texture and overall skin quality with fewer treatments. Results continue to improve as the skin heals and produces collagen. I generally recommend planning it 3 to 6 months before your event so your skin has plenty of time to settle and improve.
“I’ve noticed a significant reduction in pigmentation… my skin looks and feels firmer, appears tighter, and there’s a noticeable improvement in brightness, clarity, and overall tone. There was about one full week of recovery… I haven’t received so many compliments on appearing so much younger since after having had this treatment.”
Jennifer, Google review, CoolPeel Fusion
IPL for sun damage and redness
IPL photofacials can fade sun spots, even skin tone, and calm redness. I recommend starting 4 or 5 months out so there is enough time to evaluate your response and make thoughtful treatment decisions without crowding the event. Treated pigment may darken and flake for a week or two before the clearer skin shows. One summer note: IPL requires untanned skin, so sun lovers should plan this for the less golden months.
VI Peel for deeper correction
The VI Peel is our corrective peel, with visible peeling on days 3 to 5 and results in about a week. I recommend allowing at least 2 weeks of buffer before your event, and more time is always kinder to your skin. The full protocol is three treatments spaced 4 weeks apart for optimal results.
Moles and skin tags
Mole and skin tag removal needs at least a month, since healing takes time nobody wants visible scabs in photos.
Skincare
If someone asked me where to spend the least amount of money for one of the biggest improvements, I would probably say medical-grade skincare. Three months of consistent use shows up in your skin by event day, and unlike many treatments, it continues working long after your event is over.
The trial run
This is Rule One in action. Whatever glow treatment you plan for the final days before your event, we do it once now, two months ahead. You learn exactly how your skin responds, whether you get a day of pinkness or a little purging, and how long your glow takes to peak. Then event week holds zero surprises. This is also when any final IPL or peel treatments should already be behind you, and when we confirm your plan for the last stretch.
The final Botox appointment
For established Botox clients, I generally recommend scheduling your maintenance appointment 2 to 3 weeks before the event. This gives the treatment time to reach its full effect and allows everything to settle into a smooth, natural, rested look. It also gives any small injection-site marks plenty of time to disappear. This timing is best for a face and treatment plan we already know, which is exactly why Rule One put your first appointment months earlier.
And from here, Rule Two governs: nothing new. No new treatments, no new products, no “my friend swears by this” experiments. Proven things only.
One to three days out: the glow
This is my favorite appointment of the whole timeline. A facial, a no-peel chemical peel, or both one to three days before the event. Our Love Your Skin signature facial, a facial and no-peel peel combined, is what I recommend to almost everyone just before a big day for an immediate glow with zero downtime, so there is nothing to hide and nothing to schedule around. Because you did your trial run two months ago, you already know exactly how your skin will look.
What if your event is only weeks away?
First: it happens constantly, and you are not too late for everything. Here is the honest triage. If you are an established Botox client, a maintenance appointment may still fit. Everyone fits the glow sequence: a facial or the no-peel chemical peel in the final days, though if it would be your first time, we will talk honestly about whether there is room for a safe trial first. Good skincare and hydration still move the needle in two weeks.
And here is what I will not do: rush you into a corrective treatment with downtime that lands on your event, or have you debut something on your face days before the photos. If the runway is not there, I will tell you plainly, we will do what genuinely helps now, and we will build the real plan for after the event, when there is time to do it right. Your wedding photos are not the place to find out how your skin responds to something new.

Your date is set. Let’s build the right plan for you.
Bring me your event date and what “not so old” means to you, and we will map your personal version of this timeline together, honestly and conservatively. Looking your best for an important event is not about changing who you are. It is about giving your skin enough time to heal, build collagen, and look like the healthiest version of itself.
After years of helping people prepare for weddings and milestone events, one thing has never changed. The people who look the best are not the ones who did the most. They are the ones who planned ahead, trusted the process, and gave their skin the time it needed to become healthier.
