This advanced, non-invasive treatment rejuvenates the skin by targeting both the deeper and surface layers. Using heat energy, the treatment stimulates the production of collagen and elastin—essential proteins that maintain the skin’s elasticity and firmness. The fractional ablation process refreshes the outer layer of the skin, promoting cell turnover for a smoother, more youthful appearance. This combination of techniques results in firmer, smoother, and more even skin, all with minimal downtime.
Meet Opus Plasma – an innovative, first-of-its-kind skin resurfacing technology that combines radiofrequency with fractional plasma energy to improve skin tone and texture and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, scars, acne scars, and stretch marks. Each treatment builds collagen, which is responsible for skin firmness and youthful-looking skin texture. Opus Plasma addresses superficial to complex textural and skin quality concerns most commonly corrected with conventional fractional resurfacing lasers or full-field ablative resurfacing lasers. By customizing the settings, a treatment can be a simple “glow up,” an aggressive resurfacing, or something in between.
With Opus Plasma, we can achieve dramatic results without the need for anesthesia or significant downtime. We are able to address many common signs of aging, including skin laxity, dull skin tone and texture, collagen loss, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, acne scars, and stretch marks.
The Opus Plasma is a fractional device that is designed to precisely target trouble areas and address a wide range of skin concerns to improve the appearance of skin with less pain and downtime than traditional laser skin resurfacing treatments. Visible results are seen with just one treatment that only takes 15 minutes, and optimal results are achieved with 3 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Opus Plasma is much less invasive than ablative lasers and plasma pen fibroblast and designed to precisely penetrate the skin to reach the deeper layers and promote healing from within. Treatments are chemical-free, non-surgical, and uses your body’s natural healing process to create results.
How it works
Opus Plasma uses fractional plasma energy to deliver effects similar to a deep resurfacing treatment without the downtime. During your treatment the device hovers above your skin and the unipolar RF energy emitted from its metal pins reacts with the air and generates plasma. This plasma creates tiny channels or “microinjuries” in your skin to stimulate new collagen and elastin production.
Because the plasma energy is fractional, it only treats a fraction of an area at a time, leaving the surrounding skin intact and allows for faster healing. The result is smoother, more elastic, and younger-looking skin, without the longer recovery of other skin resurfacing treatments and with minimal inflammation and discomfort.
Unlike laser treatments, the Opus Plasma is safe to use on sensitive skin around the eyes and mouth thanks to its precision applicator. It can also be used on larger areas, like the neck, chest, and body to address skin laxity and stretch marks.
Similar to fraxel and CO2 laser skin resurfacing, the Opus Plasma is a fractional device that treats a portion of the skin to safely improve the skin’s appearance from within.

What is an Opus Plasma treatment like?
During your free consultation at Renew MedSpa, we will discuss your concerns, complete a thorough assessment and answer all your questions, and create a unique treatment plan specific to you. An Opus Plasma treatment takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on the area of treatment, but you should plan on being at our office for about two hours. Before the treatment, a topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for 45 minutes to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Then, we use the Opus Plasma device to deliver radiofrequency and plasma energy through a handpiece that glides across your skin. This energy works to create microscopic channels in the skin that penetrate into the deep layers of the skin, stimulating your body’s natural healing process.
During the treatment you may feel nothing at all or a mild heat sensation. The treatment takes about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the areas you are having treated. After treatment, you can expect some redness and swelling in the treatment area, which may last 2-4 days but will fade quickly as your body starts to heal. Your technician will provide detailed aftercare instructions and products, and you can return to your normal activities immediately after treatment.
What is the downtime?
Because the Opus Plasma® device creates minimal inflammation, the average downtime consisting of pink, blotchy, tight, and dry skin is 1-3 days and you can resume your normal activities whenever you feel ready. Typically, nobody will be able to notice you had anything done 48 hours post treatment. The following are the phases of skin recovery.
- Directly after treatment – the skin is pink, blotchy, and looks and feels like a sunburn.
- 1-3 days post treatment – the skin is less pink and blotchy and will be tight, dry, and have a rough texture. There may be areas of the skin that have micro scabbing that will exfoliate over a couple days. You can wear makeup starting 48 hours post treatment.
- 4-7 days post treatment – the skin color has returned to normal, and your skin will be tight, dry, and flakey.
- Day 24 to 1 year post treatment – The newly formed collagen fibers form a network while the capillaries degenerate. The tissue becomes increasingly stronger, with fewer blood vessels. It may take several months for the regeneration phase to complete and for the connective tissue structures to reorganize. This this is the treatment that keeps on giving, and results can continue to be seen up to one year post-treatment.
When will I see results?
Most patients notice an immediate improvement in their skin tone and texture after treatment, but it may take several weeks to see final results as your body’s healing process and collagen building takes place for up to 12 weeks post treatment. We take before and after photos to capture your results so you can see your beautiful transformation.
How long do results last?
The results from Opus Plasma® may last several years, especially when patients have maintenance treatments and combine it with other skin rejuvenation options. The reason results are not permanent is because the aging process never stops.
How long is the procedure?
The numbing process takes 45 minutes and the treatment takes 20-30 minutes and depends on how many areas you are wanting to have treated. Plan to be at our office for about two to three hours.
Is it painful?
A prescription strength topical numbing product is applied to the treatment area prior to treatment for 45 minutes to ensure you are comfortable during the procedure. Many patients report feeling nothing at all or 1-2 on a scale of 10.
What happens during a treatment?
After numbing the treatment area, we use the Opus machine to deliver radiofrequency and plasma energy through handpieces that glide across your skin. During the treatment, you may feel nothing at all or a mild heat sensation.. After the treatment, we apply a post-treatment serum, which helps calm the skin and advance the recovery process, as well as an optional 20-minute LED Red Light therapy session, which helps calm the skin and build collagen.
How many treatments are needed?
Visible results are seen with only one treatment, but the recommended protocol is three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart for optimal results. To maintain your glow, maintenance sessions are recommended every six to 12 months after your initial series of three treatments.
How is Opus different from using CO2 Laser?
Very similar results but far less downtime and far less risk as it is fractional plasma meaning the device ablates small channels but leaves much of the epidermis intact; because of this, you can look presentable in as little as 24 hours and far less risk of infection.
