What is Skinvive^™ by Juvéderm^®?

Skinvive by Juvéderm is the first and only hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable skin booster that improves skin hydration and smoothness. Skinvive’s modified hyaluronic acid gel formula hydrates skin from within and helps the skin retain its natural moisture and softness. Results include smoother, glowing, and radiant skin that lasts for 6 months.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural, water-attracting molecule naturally found in your skin that decreases with age and sun exposure. Hyaluronic acid in the epidermis and dermis plays a key roll in the level of skin hydration, and increased hydration creates smoothness and plumpness of the skin.

Results

Results are visible immediately after treatment, but optimal results are usually visible after a few weeks. The hyaluronic acid in Skinvive starts working right away to increase hydration, and over time it disperses and integrates with the skin tissue, improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The full effects of Skinvive can last up to 6–9 months.

What to expect during your Skinvive treatment

Multiple microdroplet injections are placed just below the surface of the skin on your face. This treatment is very similar to Botox injections. Lidocaine is an ingredient in Skinvive to keep you comfortable. Numbing prior to the treatment is available. The treatment takes about 15 minutes. Numbing prior to treatment takes 20 minutes.

Is Skinvive^™ By Juvéderm^® a filler?

Skinvive is made of hyaluronic acid, similar to traditional filler products. However, the modified hyaluronic acid in Skinvive is designed to improve skin smoothness and hydrate from within for smooth texture and a radiant glow—without changing your face shape or volume. Therefore, Skinvive is not a filler. This treatment pairs well with Botox, Dysport, and other aesthetic treatments.

How often will I need treatments?

The results of Skinvive are clinically proven to last up to 6 months. We recommend one treatment every 6 months for optimal and continued results.

Is Skinvive^™ by Juvederm^® a moisturizer?

You may have seen hyaluronic acid as an ingredient in moisturizing creams or serums. In SKINVIVE^™ by JUVÉDERM^®, hyaluronic acid attracts water within your skin to keep your skin hydrated and smooth.

How to prepare for a treatment

This treatment is not recommended if you have an important event within 2 weeks of injection due to potential for bruising.
Do not fly for one week after a Skinvive treatment.
Avoid herbal supplements such as ginko, green tea and anti-inflammatories of any kind for 2 weeks before and following treatment to limit bruising.
Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior to your appointment.
Avoid blood thinner or anti-inflammatories to avoid bruising.
Discontinue Retin-A at least two days before your treatment.

Contraindications, risks, and side effects

Skinvive should not be used in patients who have severe allergies, marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history or presence of multiple severe allergies, and should not be used in patients with a history of allergies to Gram-positive bacterial proteins or lidocaine. Possible side effects include redness, lumps/bumps, swelling, bruising, pain, tenderness, firmness, discoloration and itching. Most side effects will resolve within 7 days. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.

Aftercare

Do not rub, touch, or manipulate the injected area(s) for 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid irritating products for 24 hours after treatment.
Do not apply make-up or self-tanner for 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun or heat, and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours after treatment.
Bruising in the injected areas is normal and often expected, especially if treated around the eyes. Bruising can last up to several weeks. Using/taking Arnica may help diminish bruising.
Wait 2 weeks for microneedling, laser, or chemical peel treatments.
Re-treatment is typically needed in 6 months.
Although rare, infection in the injected area is possible. Signs of infection may include redness and tenderness in the infected area and fever.
